Self Care Following Cervical Biopsy
Following a cervical biopsy, it is normal to have a brown or blood stained discharge for a few days. You may wear a pad as necessary. If heavy bleeding occurs, call: McKinley Dial-A-Nurse at 333-2700.
No strenuous or vigorous activity for 48 hours.
No vaginal intercourse, douching or tampons for 3-4 days.
If you develop a fever, foul smelling discharge or severe cramping, call the Women's Health Unit or Dial-A-Nurse at the number above.
The biopsy will be sent to the pathologist for review. Your health care provider will instruct you on how best to obtain the results of your biopsy.
