Nutrition


SportWell Center's Nutrition Education Program provides in-house and outreach services for students on the Urbana campus.  The goal of the nutrition program is to provide education on a variety of nutrition topics, to encourage healthy eating behaviors and to facilitate understanding the benefits of healthy eating.

If you would like to request a nutrition education program, contact SportWell Center at 244-0261.

 Individual Nutrition Counseling

U of I students meet one-on-one with a registered dietitian who is a professional staff member at McKinley or SportWell.  Nutrition concerns of any kind may be addressed in a half-hour session.  Some topics may include: general healthy eating, vegetarian eating, preventing heart disease, diabetes, sports nutrition, disordered eating behavior, herbs and supplements.

 Class Presentations

One of McKinley's registered dietitians or nutrition graduate students can speak to your academic class on the nutrition topic of your choice.

 Nutrition  Walk-in Services

Get your sports nutrition or general nutrition questions answered in these brief consultations.  No appointment is required, but space is limited to the first six participants on a first-come, first-served basis.  

 Living Lean

Tuesday's from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Living LEAN is a 6-week series of fun and interactive group sessions for students who are interested in weight loss and healthy lifestyle choices. Learn about proper nutrition and exercises to create a personal workout program.

 Education Programs

Nutrition workshops are presented in a Jeopardy game format, encouraging questions and discussion.  Emceed by upper-level dietetic students, the programs are interactive, fun and educational.  You can choose from a variety of nutrition topics - healthy eating, sports nutrition, weight management, herbs, preventive medicine, to name a few.  To schedule a nutrition program, call 333-2714 or visit Nutrition Workshop for a pdf program request form you can download, fill out and fax to: 244-1758.
